Prunus pensylvanica

A native tree or shrub found in adjacent Park County in shady wooded draws but found occasionally as an ornamental or possibly as an escaped ornamental in Gallatin County along the trails and neighborhoods of Bozeman. Similar to Prunus emarginata (bitter cherry), which is found west of the continental divide and has broader leaves with more rounded tips.
